Shelly Laverne Brown entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 1st, 2020. She was born on March 8, 1958 to Eugene and the late Catherine Smith in Washington District of Columbia. In her early years she spent her summers in Washington D.C. with her favorite aunt, the late Inez Henderson.
She was employed by University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for over 25 years being a dedicated and loyal worker. She was a committed and active member of Christian Pentecostal Church, and later attended the Bible Institute where she received her Certificate in Theology.
One of the things Shelly was well known for by her family was her happy birthday songs which was always sung off key along with her crazy infectious laugh. Shelly would watch a number of old television shows including: the Golden Girls, Mama’s Family, and Little House on the Prairie faithfully.
She truly loved her family and supported them in every way possible, whether it was talking to them on the phone, or spending quality time.
Shelly is preceded in death by her Mother Catherine Smith and grandson Salomon Destine.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughter Felicia Brown, her three sisters Cynthia Tucker (James) of Virginia, Kathy Lacey (Theodore) of North Carolina, and Mamie Smith (Lloyd) of North Carolina along with two brothers Rashawn and Daron Smith of New Jersey and her only living grandchild Natallah Destine. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will miss her truly.
