Rose Mary Tazewell Wilson was born to the late Matthew and Susie Tazewell on November 27, 1953 in Carson, Virginia. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at her home in Newark, New Jersey.
Rose was educated by the Dinwiddie Virginia school system. While growing up she enjoyed spending quality time with her niece, Camilla and nephew, Jerry, who lived with her family. She also loved going to the baseball games to see the Dinwiddie Generals play at Southside High School.
In 1970, Rose relocated to Newark, New Jersey. Shortly thereafter, she gave birth on June 1, 1972 to her only child, Gregory Coleman Burchell Jr.
In 2001, Rose was baptized at Abundant Life Bible Mission in Petersburg, Virginia under the leadership of Pastor Norman Griffin. There she surrendered her heart and life to Jesus, claiming the biblical scripture John 3:16 as her salvation message. Rose later joined and remained a member of Pilgrim Cathedral in Newark, New Jersey under the leadership of Bishop Alvin Crone.
Rose had a genuine love for all music and a beautiful voice. She enjoyed reading, journaling and watching her favorite television shows like, The Jefferson’s. Rose was also quite the chef and was known for making a complete holiday meal for a party of one, herself! One of her favorite foods was chopped barbeque and dirty rice was one of her specialty dishes. She loved shopping for fine clothes, shoes and jewelry. Rose was also extremely thoughtful and would be sure to contact her family and friends on their birthdays and anniversaries.
