Lizzie Mae Thompkins

The funeral service for Lizzie Mae Thompkins will begin at 11:00 am, Friday July 10, 2020.

Lizzie Mae Thompkins (74) of Elizabeth, NJ passed away on June 27th 2020 in EggHabor Township, NJ surrounded by her love ones.

One of the 13 children Lizzie affectionately called “Sis” was born at home on July 3rd, 1945 in Dublin, GA to the late Annie Ruth and Harold Mercer Sr.

She married Elisha Thompkins sr. on July 18th 1966. Their union created 10 children (6 girls and 4 boys). Lizzie devoted herself completely to her family and was a stay at home mom while her husband worked to provide for their family.  At the time of her death Lizzie was the devoted wife of the late Elisha Thompkins sr. for 54 years.

Lizzie is preceded in death by both her parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Her husband Elisha Thompkins Sr., two of her ten children Andrea Burlin Thompkins and son Jeffrey Thompkins. As well as two of her grandsons Michael Lee Thompkins Jr. and Jermaine Glenn Evans.

Lizzie is survived by her children Elisha Thompkins Jr. (Reverend Zina Thompkins) of EggHarbor Township, NJ, Sheena Yvonne Thompkins (Seidu Adams), Michael Lee Thompkins Sr. (Crystal “Dawn” Harvey), Elizabeth Thompkins, Jamal Stefan Thompkins,  Saprina “Princess” Thompkins-Devine (Brain Devine), Corelius “Peanut” Thompkins  and Chaka Thompkins (AlRaheem Campbell all of Elizabeth, NJ. 2 god-daughters Talaya Sims and Hadiyah Pryor, 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, 3 dear best friends Victoria Sims, Cynthia Fulton and Carmen Ramos. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

We will miss Lizzie’s famous pancakes, fried chicken and collard greens that filled our bellies. Her impeccable sense of fashion and her beautiful smile.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids often telling those stories about her life as a child and offering life advice.
