Gail Bernice Crawford, was born April 14, 1954 to Amy Crawford in Shellman, Georgia. Gail moved to Newark, New Jersey where she gave birth to her only child, Elise. Gail spent over 30 years at Prudential Financial as a Diversity Specialist until her retirement in 2004.
She graduated from Essex County College in 1975 with an Associates Degree in Business.
Gail was the National President of Minority Interchange, Inc. in 1986, 1987 again in 1990-1992. Where she was a phenomenal leader, mentor, teacher and friend to thousands of MIs members, corporate sponsors, facilitators and partners.
She is and will always be a legend in MI for the countless lives that she helped to mold, get out of their comfort zone, encouraged to be their best, showed up for, prayed for and cried with. Gail will always be the people’s cheerleader.
Gail loved the Lord. She called Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Newark her church home. She also loved spending her time with friends & family, where she would host events and gatherings to bring everyone together. She also loved her community. Gail gave back to several charities and organizations by volunteering in many roles. She held the American Cancer Society close to her heart.
After retiring, Gail turned her passions into businesses. She launched GC Enterprises, an event planning and tours company, Bling and Bags and, co-founded The Sparkle Tee line with her business partner and BFF Renee Marshall-McKinley.
Gail also worked as a manager and event planner for Branford Manor, Minority Interchange Inc, as a conference planner and most recently with Laboratory Robotics Interest Group as an event planner and trade show coordinator.
Gail never met a stranger!
Gail leaves behind to remember her daughter Elise, granddaughter Sadè. Her siblings Junior, Tony, Helen, Robert, Tammy and Tiffany including her BFF, Yvette Edwards and a host of nieces and nephews who will remember her as "Auntie Gail". She will be joining her mother Amy, siblings Johnny, Patricia and Cathy.
Remembering Gail as amazing as she is and the memories she left us will last us a lifetime. We will forever love and cherish Gail.
