The funeral service for Elder Charles Canty will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 6, 2020.
Elder Charles Canty departed this life and gained his wings on June 1, 2020. He was born on March 20, 1949 to the late Gentile Canty and Ida Mae Hall in Phoenix City, Alabama.
In 1967, he graduated from Jefferson High School in Elizabeth. Charles was employed by Kean University for 19yrs as a maintenance worker where he retired. He was a man who loved his family and spending time with his wife, daughter, and grandkids.
Charles met and married the love of his life Barbara Ann McClain in 1976, where they were married 44yrs. He enjoyed so many different outings with his wife! They both became ordained ministers in the 80’s.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, Brother Jimmy Canty; sisters Doris Hall, Martha and Betty Canty, brother in laws: Arthur Lee McClain, Reginald Clarence McClain; sister in law Sharon Denise McClain.
He leaves to cherish precious memories of his loving wife Barbara Canty, one daughter Shaunte Canty, one step daughter Sherry McClain three grandkids Raekwon Robinson (Duke) and Shantise Johnson (Stink) and Ransom McClain (Jace) sisters Geri Summers, Linda Canty and Laura Canty; sisters in laws Tameka Glover, Patricia McClain, Thelma Curry, Lisa Warren, Sarah Minter (Dexter), Stephanie Hall, brother in laws Gary Warren (Monika), Barry Warren (Charlotte) and Anthony Warren (Wanda) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Charles leaves behind many beautiful memories, and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
