Dorothy Limehouse Obituary

Dorothy Ravenell Limehouse, the daughter of the late Mrs. Grace Eady and the late Mr. Lazarus Ravenell, was born May 1, 1935 in Cross, South Carolina. She entered eternal rest on December 24, 2020.

She became a member of Unity Baptist Church in 1949. She served until she relocated to New York in 1957.

She worked various jobs and retired from Marriott Hotel, Newark, NJ in 1995.

Dorothy was an outspoken person, but never did she look down on anyone. Many came to her for advice and never left disappointed. She was a mother figure to everyone who crossed her path. She was a resilient and spirited woman with a giving heart. She was respected and loved by people inside and outside of her community. She loved cooking and gardening. She was very energetic and walked everywhere she could.

She was married to the late James Small on March 17, 1956. In this union, four children were born. She remarried the late Willie Limehouse, February 10, 1971. In this union, four children were born. Two of her children preceded her in death, Tammy, and Kimball and well as 4 siblings, John Henry, Elick, Lucille and Pearlie.

Dorothy leaves to cherish loving memories: her children LaVerne Small, Dakeisha Limehouse Fowler, Wendell Small, Darren Small, Garry Small, Lamarr Small; one sister Louise Ravenell, two brothers, Harry Ravenell and Donald Ravenell; one aunt, Ida Johnson, one son-in-law, Wayne Strand, five sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ravenell, Rosamae Ravenell, Shirley Wigfall, Lizzie M. Ravenell and Betty Morgan, one brother-in-law, Lazarus Smalls. 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
