Callie Mae Suber

Callie Mae Suber was born to the late Melissa (Pete) Eldora and Randall Hayward (Doc) Sanders on July 23, 1944 in Johnson County, Cleveland Township, North Carolina.  Callie passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020.

In the late 1950s, Callie and her family relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she then attended Roosevelt Junior High School and Battin High School.  Callie spent many of her early employment years as a domestic professional, while simultaneously dedicating her life as a Jehovah’s Witness.  Her commitment to her faith and humanity, ultimately led to her baptism on January 17, 1977.  Callie also joined Bristol Myers in 1977 and retired as a supervisor in 1996.

Callie loved her family and friends unconditionally and was known to many as “Suba.”  Callie also found great fulfillment in studying, performing field service and helping others.  Callie would go to great lengths to drive to various places just to check on her family and friends.  She would also help strangers along the way as well.  Whether it was her delicious pound cake or some literature, Callie was sure to have you leave her presence with something sweet for your belly and/or your mind.

The world is a better place because Callie Mae Suber was here.  We will miss her dearly.

Callie is predeceased by her daughter Charlene Suber and survived by her two sons, Curtis R. (fiancé Heather Sammartino ) Suber, Jr. and Barry L. (Sayeeda) Suber; grandchildren, Jada Suber, Tamia Wright, Nassir Suber, Chonte James, and Amber Barrett; great-grand son, Tahjere Borptelus; siblings Margaret Carroll, Elizabeth Pollard, Ransom (Gloria) Sanders, Earl Sanders (deceased), Carol Hughes, Daniel Sanders, Edith Harrell, Doris (Nelson) Eddie and Eldorod Sanders; close friends, Barbara Cardwell, Carnell and Marilyn Thomas, Carol Hubbard, Yvonne Daniels and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
