Beverly Ann Battle

Beverly Ann Battle (59) of Hillside, New Jersey passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Complete Care of Westfield.

Beverly AKA Sam was born December 29, 1962, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Marvin Rudolph Jones and Geraldine Engram Jones. She grew up in Linden, New Jersey. Sam attended the Linden public schools. Graduating from Linden High School.

Sam attended The Technical Training Program in Newark, N.J. When she completed the course, she was hired as Lab Tech at Sandoz which later merged with Novartis where she was promoted to Scientist 1 working in diabetes research for over twenty years.

She later worked at Woodbridge Developmental School in Woodbridge, N.J. in the recreation department. She liked to go on trips to the movies and shopping with the clients.

At an early age Sam accepted Christ as her personal savior, she was baptized at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Linden, N.J.

She later became a member of First Maplewood Baptist Church in Maplewood, N.J. Sam was avid member of the church’s Food Pantry and the Hospitality Committee.

Sam was a very organized person; everything had a place and if you moved anything she knew it. She loved children especially her son Carlton who she named after her brother and she loved to cook, everyone loved her baked ziti. One time she tried a new recipe for Thanksgiving it was called a Sweet Potato Casserole one of the ingredients was a white turnip. It didn’t go over well at all. By the way it was a Martha Stewart recipe.

Sam enjoyed music, Prince was one of her favorite singers and she was the family photographer. We decide to do a booklet for our family reunion with all of the family members names in it, so Sam created an EXCEL spread sheet containing our Daniels Family Tree.

Sam was predeceased by her parents Marvin and Geraldine Jones a brother, William Carlton Jones and a nephew Frances Scott Walker Jr.

She was post deceased by her sister-in-law Sharon Jones

Sam is survived by her husband Tyrone Battle, a son Carlton James Battle his wife Nakala Bennet and a granddaughter Novaleigh Sierra of Texas, two sisters Aldeana “Mona” Mitchell husband Joseph of Hillside, New Jersey and Michelle Walker of Rochester, Minnesota, one brother Marvin David Jones wife Sharon of Rochester, Minnesota a special cousin Towana Wise, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
