Robert James Batté, affectionately known as Bobby, was born October 31, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Rebecca Batté Drumgoole and Quinton Drumgoole. Bobby departed from this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, after a long battle with Scleroderma.
Bobby grew up in McKinney, Virginia and was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Southside High School in Dinwiddie, Virginia in 1962. On September 10, 1966 Bobby married the love of his life, Mamie Harrison and shortly thereafter began a family.
Bobby’s love for driving influenced his employment with United Parcel Services (UPS) in 1969, where he began as a package driver and was later promoted to a tractor-trailer driver. In 2000, Bobby retired from UPS after 31 years of employment.
Bobby was a member of Pilgrim Cathedral of New Jersey under the leadership of Bishop Alvin Crone, where he was ordained as a Deacon, served on the Men’s Usher Board, and enjoyed attending Sunday School.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Batté Drumgoole; stepfather, Quinton Drumgoole and brother, Marshall Batté.
