Oscar Lewis Dixon Jr. was born on October 16th, 1957, in Miami, Florida, to the late Oscar Lewis Dixon Sr. and Dorothy Lee Dixon Martin. Oscar was called home on Friday, June 13th, 2025. Oscar and his family relocated to Claxton, Georgia, where he continued with his education. Oscar graduated from Claxton High School in 1975. Shortly after graduating, Oscar relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey. After moving to New Jersey, Oscar found his first love, Marva Baker. Out of their love, they had four beautiful children. Oscar also accepted Marva’s other children and raised them as his own. Oscar, later on in life, joined the New Zion Baptist Church of Elizabeth, New Jersey. He served as an Usher and joined the Men’s Choir. Oscar was a great son, uncle, companion, friend, and most of all, a wonderful Dad and Stepdad. Oscar was a very hard-working man who held great jobs and was very talented. He was employed for most of his life at Hayward Industries, where he retired. Oscar was not one to sit around after retiring from Hayward. He was later employed by the City of Elizabeth as a Park Official, where he worked until he was no longer able to due to health problems. Oscar will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Oscar is preceded in death by his parents: Oscar and Dorothy Dixon; three brothers, Herbert Lee Jr., Wallace Dixon, and Johnny Dixon; one daughter, Sharina Baker-Dixon; and his lifelong partner, Carolyn Floyd. Oscar leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Lateifa Baker and Talitha Baker of Charlotte, North Carolina; four stepdaughters, Tawana Baker of Charlotte, North Carolina, Shakeysa Hill (Rex), Tyeisha Baker, and Mutayah Baker, all of Elizabeth, NJ; one son, Oscar Lewis Baker 3rd of Elizabeth, NJ; two stepsons, Tylib Baker from Elizabeth, NJ, and Rashmare Baker from Jamesburg, NJ; one son-in-law, Eric Tappan of Charlotte, North Carolina; his first love and mother of his children, Marva Baker of Elizabeth, NJ; his extended stepchildren—two sons and two daughters; four sisters, Loretta McMillian (Ted) of Miami, Florida, Rhonda Dixon Slater of Claxton, Georgia, Sheila Johnson (John) of Montgomery, Alabama, and Cassandra Brewton (Earic) of Port Wentworth, Georgia; four brothers, Alfred Burley (Mary) of Georgia, Willie Joe Dixon of Miramar, Florida, Ronald Stanley Dixon of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Tommy Dixon of Claxton, Georgia; 38 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his best friend, James Murphy (Gussie) of Savannah, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
