Oliver Anderson, affectionately known as “Jr”, was called home on March 25th, 2024, at the Veterans Hospital in East Orange, NJ after a long illness. He had the devotion of his entire family that were always present to support him through this struggle.
Oliver was born to the late Oliver Anderson Jr. and Maebe Williams in Lacrosse, Fl..on September 2, 1949. At the age of 18, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Vietnam War where he served as a Machine Gunner. Ultimately, he received an honorable discharge after being injured in combat. Oliver attended A.L. Mebane in Alachua, Fl and graduated in1976 and remained in touch with his classmates from over 50 years ago.
Oliver relocated to New Jersey soon after where he met Penelope “June” Anderson. From this union of over 40 years, two daughters were born. Oliver was a phenomenal husband and father, always going above and beyond to make sure his family was well provided for with no hesitation.
Oliver retired from PSE&G as a Boiler Mechanic over 30 years. He was excited to retire as he could travel more with his wife and move back to Florida to enjoy the “country life” and warmer weather.
God heard his plans and made it possible for him to purchase another home in Florida and a RV.
Preceding Oliver in death was his wife, Penelope Anderson; parents: Oliver Anderson Jr., MaeBe Williams, and stepfather Clarence Williams; brothers: Clarence Williams Jr., Charles Strawder; sisters: Ceola Smith, Sharon Matthews, and Gloria Anderson- Latson.
Oliver leaves to cherish in his memory, his 2 loving daughters: Lattwana Anderson of Hamilton, NJ and Marcina Anderson of Union, NJ; 2 brothers: Carey Williams and Don Anderson; 4 sisters: Diane Crews, Deborah Williams, Cathy Anderson-Jobe, and Ann Abritton (Joe); 6 grandchildren: Ibn Anderson (Carmen), Jihad Cylear, Tamaya Cylear, Jada Matthews, and Masih Anderson; 4 great- grandchildren: Julian, Rylei, Justice, Xavier; A special niece: Atiya Smith and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
