James Clinton Jones

August 12, 1949 — July 18, 2021

James Clinton Jones, a life-long resident of Elizabeth, New Jersey, departed this earthly life and gained his heavenly wings on July 19, 2021. James was born on August 12, 1949, to the late Etta Bell Perkins in Kershaw, South Carolina and was raised by his maternal grandparents McKinley and Thomasina Perkins.

James C. Jones was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabeth, NJ, for many years. He was educated in the Elizabeth Public School System. Clinton affectionately known as “Perk” or “Small Fry” enjoyed music, loved to sing and watch his favorite television shows. He loved to cook and could be found in the kitchen preparing his favorite meals.

James leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children Artavia Peggins and Jessica McCray, his sisters Etta M. Randall and Linda Gilbert, his brother J.C. Gilbert (Monica), his Aunt Francis Lloyd, Uncle Ernest Perkins, six Grandchildren Talib, Taliyah, Taqwyaha, Bilal, Janiyah and Marquis, three GreatGrandchildren Zayden, Zyod and Zuri and a host of family, friends and loving friend Beverley. James was predeceased by his mother Etta Bell Gilbert (Otha), sister Thomasina Holston and brother Otha L. Gilbert.
