Erick Jamil Williamson, beloved son of Carolyn Louise Williamson and the late Willie Charles Williamson Jr., was born on December 23, 1961, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He peacefully departed this life on October 9, 2025. A lifelong resident of Elizabeth, Erick was educated in the Elizabeth Public School System and was a member of the Class of 1979.
Erick was employed by Jimmy’s Automotive Parts, where he diligently served as a driver, delivering automotive components throughout the community.
Erick had a heart of gold and was deeply admired for his unwavering loyalty to those around him. He found joy in watching sports and engaging in spirited conversations about the games he loved. Erick took great pride in his role as a devoted father and loving grandfather. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with his daughter and granddaughter. Erick also gave back to his community by serving as a sponsor in a drug recovery program, where he mentored others with compassion and dedication. Though quiet by nature, his presence lit up the room and brought happiness to those fortunate enough to know him.
Erick leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his mother, Carolyn Williamson; his daughter, Jamilla Williamson-Gillis; and his granddaughter, Jayde Chavannes. He is also survived by his sister, Soncerae Williamson; his brothers, Shahid Williamson (Shakeemah), Tony Williamson, Troy Williamson (Erica), Curtis Williamson (Charlene), and Salim Williamson. His aunts, Betty Williamson and Yasmeen Muhammad; his uncle, Rufus Earl Williamson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Erick was preceded in death by his father, Willie Charles Williamson Jr., and his brother, Michael Kaliah Williamson.
His presence, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
