Delores Smalling

Delores Smalling (aka Bunchie) was born to the late Mary Jones and Aaron Jones on August 8 th 1947 in Elizabeth NJ.

She attended the Elizabeth school system then received her GED. She then attended union county college and received her LPN certificate. Afterwards she received an associate degree and became a registered nurse.

She always had an enthusiasm for learning that includes Bible College, piano lessons, knitting, sewing and Spanish as a second language and anything you needed answers to just ask because she was very knowledgeable.

Bunchie was very outgoing and energetic with a contagious laugh along with a loving personality and always fun to be around. And don’t even dare to try beating her playing spades. She would always approach with a big hug and or kiss and identified you as darling.

Bunchie later relocated to Lithonia GA and was employed as a registered nurse for several years before she retired. She became a member of the peaceful Zion Church, under the leadership of L.C. Creamer.

After she became ill with health issues she decided to come back home. Months later she departed this life, on Saturday morning June 4th 2022 at JFK Hospital, Edison NJ.

She was predeceased by her late son Richard Maurise Jones, her late sisters Catherine W, Hurling and Erma L. Price and her late brother Michael Hill.

She leaves to cherish fond memories to her siblings Annie P. Carmine~ Metuchen NJ, Robert E. Hill~Linden NJ, Shirley Hill~Rahway NJ, and Regina E. Brown~Elizabeth NJ. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
